Questions
What is EXIF data?
EXIF is hidden information saved inside photos by cameras and phones: the date, camera model, settings and often the exact GPS location where the photo was taken.
Does this reduce image quality?
No. For JPG, PNG and WebP we remove the metadata without re-compressing the image, so the picture is byte-for-byte identical. The only exception is a JPG that depends on its rotation tag; we re-save that one at high quality so it stays the right way up.
Don't social networks remove this already?
Many do, but not all, and messaging apps, email and file sharing often keep it. Cleaning photos yourself is the only way to be sure.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
